401 Oyster Company Awarded 2024 LASA Grant
We’re excited to announce that we have been selected as one of the farms to receive the 2024 LASA Grant!
On March 29th we attended the LASA Grant Award Ceremony at Newport Vineyards where we enjoyed hearing from our Governor, state representatives, and other local growers who previously received the awards.
Every year the Local Agriculture and Seafood Act awards grants to support the growth, development, and marketing of local farms, seafood harvesters, and food businesses to increase food supply and security, strengthening the local food system here in Rhode Island. The grant is funded by the State of Rhode Island, and 2024 proved to have largest amount of funding the project has seen, with awards totaling over $650,000.
For a small state there are so many unique farms and food producers, so we’re super proud to have been selected as one of the 43 awardees.
With this grant we will be able to further develop our marketing program and sales channels to harvest & ship our oysters from our farm to the front doors of oyster lovers locally and nationally. We have big oyster ideas and can’t wait to see them happen.
Thank you to all of the advocates in the state for small local farms like ours, including our Governor Dan McKee (a big oyster fan), the RIDEM Division of Agriculture, and the LASA board members who voted for our application to move forward.
